The History of DeCampos

João Vieira de Campos founded the company in 1963, in Porto.

In the beginning, the factory produced exclusively pewter decoration pieces but later on, started to work with another material, the aluminium, and created LINHA FOGO, which brand was registered in 1973.

During the first years, the company was almost entirely dedicated to exportation. The United States, as a big market, played one of the main roles in our business.

Metropolitan Museum, in New York, has chosen our factory to make the reproductions of some of its collection’s pieces, which are sold in the museum’s shops and are also used as special offers in communication and public relations’ actions to promote new exhibitions and other great events.

Renowned stores like Bloomingdale’s and Saks also take part in the American clients’ list. Permanently in contact with our agent in the United States, these clients are up to date with the pewter object collections we present each year.

In Europe, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway and Spain represent the main target for João Vieira de Campos’ exports. These countries came across our products not only by our managers in Brussels, Madrid, Helsinki and Munich but also by visiting and contacting us in fairs that every year take place in Frankfurt, Madrid and Paris.

In the 80’s we started to take part in fairs in Lisbon and in Oporto and due to this direct deal with the market, our company reached a great number of portuguese customers whose importance in our activity has been increasing gradually since then.

Nowadays, decoration shops represent the essential target of the company’s commercial network. Our products are demanded by the main specialized stores spread across the country.

Following the ongoing opening of the market and the general evolution and implementation of marketing and communication policies, we have been developing a very specific skill: the production of exclusive pieces for enterprises.

Depending on our client’s strategy, we get inspired in the companies’ brand icons or in their target’s profile to suggest and produce special objects that are successfully integrated in several types of promotional actions and events.

We produce special gifts, trophies as well as replicas of symbolic pieces that can express the history or the brand image of an organization.

The sale of this kind of products achieves its maximum point at Christmas time which represents usually the best period of our business’s results.
